Women’s PTSD and Trauma Treatment in Palm Desert, CA
Tranquil Palms offers women-only PTSD and trauma treatment in Palm Desert, California. Our program is built for adult women who are ready to stop just getting by and start healing from what happened to them.
We serve women from across the Coachella Valley and Southern California, along with women from farther away who need distance from home to focus on recovery. Palm Desert gives you something that’s hard to find in daily life: quiet, open space, and a calm setting where your nervous system can finally start to settle.
Who We Serve
Tranquil Palms treats adult women living with PTSD or the effects of trauma, including women who also struggle with addiction, depression, anxiety, or other mental health concerns. You don’t need a formal diagnosis to reach out. If what happened to you is still shaping how you feel, sleep, cope, or connect with others, you’re in the right place.
Many of the women we work with live nearby, in Palm Desert, Palm Springs, Rancho Mirage, Cathedral City, La Quinta, Indio, and other Coachella Valley communities. Being close to home can make it easier to stay connected to family and work while you’re in treatment.
Others come to us from across California and beyond. Sometimes healing means stepping away from the people, places, and routines tied to your trauma. Coming to Palm Desert gives you that distance, along with a structured program and optional live-in housing while you focus on yourself.

What Trauma Treatment Looks Like at Our Palm Desert Center
Our program is for women only, and that matters. For many women, trauma involved men, and being in a space with only women can make it easier to feel safe, speak honestly, and connect with others who understand. The desert setting adds to that sense of calm, with room to slow down away from the noise of everyday life.
Everything we do is trauma-informed. That means you set the pace, you’re never pushed to share before you’re ready, and your care team understands how trauma affects your body, your emotions, and your relationships. Treatment starts with safety and stabilization, and deeper trauma work comes when you’re ready.
Your therapy may include:
- Cognitive processing therapy (CPT): Helps you identify and work through the beliefs trauma left behind, such as “it was my fault” or “I’m never safe”
- Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT): Helps you understand the links between your thoughts, feelings, and actions, and build healthier ways to respond to triggers
- Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT): Teaches skills for managing intense emotions, tolerating distress, and staying grounded
- Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR): Offered when appropriate, to help your brain process traumatic memories so they feel less overwhelming
These therapies happen in individual sessions and women’s process groups, supported by mindfulness, breathwork, and gentle movement.
Our Programs
Most women move through our programs in phases, stepping down to less structure as they grow steadier.
Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)
Our partial hospitalization program is the most intensive level of care we offer. You spend most of the day in treatment, with individual therapy, group sessions, and skill-building, then return home or to live-in housing in the evening. PHP is often the right starting point if trauma symptoms or substance use are making daily life hard to manage.
Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
Our intensive outpatient program offers fewer treatment hours each week, so you can begin returning to work, family, and daily routines with support still in place. Many women step down to IOP after PHP. Others start here if they need structured care but have more stability at home.
Live-In Care and Extended Stay
If your home environment makes recovery harder, or you’re traveling from outside the Coachella Valley, optional live-in housing is available while you attend PHP or IOP. For women who need more time to build stability, our extended-stay emotional wellness option offers continued structure and support.
